Heart attacks and strokes are mainly caused by a blockage that prevents blood from flowing to the heart or brain.
The most common reason for the blockage is an accumulation of fatty deposits on the inner walls of the blood vessels that supply the heart or brain.

The present of both heart attacks and strokes are often sudden and acute without any prior warning signs.

An estimated 7.6 million global death were due to coronary heart disease and another 5.7 million were due to stroke.
